The Chairman of the Virginia Conservative Party, Virginia Affiliate of the ACP, sent a note out to the Virginia Congressional delegation with a very simple admonition to do the job that they swore an oath to do. An excerpt:
Today, we stand on the bank of the proverbial Rubicon. If together, we can remain strong and unified, we can save this Republic; failing that, it will surely fall at the hands of the enemy within. We conservatives sincerely hope you will stand with and for us and fight for it. In addition to rejecting the extra-constitutional governance of the current Administration, we ask you to continue the fight to reduce out-of-control spending and end the insatiable borrowing. Frankly, Congress is contributing to the weakening of our nation by not standing up and exercising its constitutionally consigned responsibilities instead of engaging in ideologically-based partisan politics.
It is imperative that Congress return to a more orderly process to manage the financial matters of this country. It is unacceptable that Representatives either cannot, or will not, do the job citizens have elected them to do. We demand competent managers and good stewards of our resources. Individual citizens, families, businesses, cities, counties, and states cannot run their personal finances or municipal operations successfully unless they manage their resources well. When they don’t, we see bankruptcies (i.e., Detroit et al). Frankly, Congress’ and the President’s behavior is embarrassing and shameful and the government of the United States is failing the American people.
It is not a hard thing to see that our current leadership in Washington is failing us, from both parties. It’s time to stand up, right now, and say…enough.
The full letter to the 1st District Rep. Similar faxes were sent to all 11 Congressmen and both Senators from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
